driver_power_state_failure: Windows 7?

With my new HP laptop sometimes I get the blue screen of death (BSOD) It is always the same error.

driver_power_state_failure

I first experienced this problem a couple of weeks after upgrading from Vista to windows 7 on a Vaio laptop.
The sequence of events is always the same: I'm entering numbers into a secure https site and suddenly the keyboard freezes. I can't enter anything into any other programs, then shortly after I lose all networking. When I shut down the shutdown screen hangs for ages then I get the BSOD with the above error.

Hi,

Have you verified that all drivers are up to date and certified for Windows 7? Prior to migrating to Windows 7 from Windows Vista did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?

To determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7 please go to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e-advisor.aspx

Another resource to verify compatibility is available at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center located at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...s/default.aspx

Should you require additional assistance and feedback, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...egory/w7itpro/ . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams.
