I Can't Connect To The Internet On My Laptop?

I need to connect to the internet to finish some school work but I can't connect on my laptop and I have no idea why. Currently browsing the web from my dad's computer but I can't do anything here, he uses his computer to work.
Any ideas what is the problem? I need to connect now.

Is the wifi switch turned on?

Start Firefox. Click FILE and scroll down to WORK OFFLINE. If there is a check mark, click on it to remove it. Then try visiting a random web page.

Try reseting the router.
Also, check your LAN configuration.

Is there a torrent application running?
If so, this can be the problem. I had the same issue and I solved it exiting a torrent application that was conflicting my internet connection.
