Tallest Building in the World: Dubai?

The tallest building in the world is set to open in Dubai today.
They say it's the tallest but to me it sounds like a marketing move for tourists.
Is the Tallest building in the world the one that's going to open today or there are other buildings just as tall, maybe even taller than the one at dubai?

Developers in Dubai have refused to reveal its exact height, so it's impossible to tell if it's the tallest building in the world.

But it could easily be the tallest. The Burj Dubai, which is Arabic for Dubai Tower, has 160 storeys and stands more than 800 metres high. No other building has these characteristics.

It is a luminous, light ridiculously tall, but exquisitely sculpted, elegantly detailed and unapologetically exultant. Nothing so perfectly summarizes the bigger-is-better outlook of Dubai's ruler, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the tower's developer, the state-backed Emaar Properties.

Dubai leaders hope the tapered metal and glass skyscraper will help restore investors' confidence in the Gulf Arab emirate, which has been saddled with a mountain of debt since the collapse of its real estate sector.
