Are Firecrackers Illegal?

Are firecrackers illegal in the US?
I'm visiting the country from france and if they're illegal I won't buy any Firecrackers this year.
I have little blackcat firecrackers and I want to blow them up. Im afraid if I get charged or arrested for blowing them up in my backyard? Are Firecrackers illegal in this country?

Firecrackers, as well as other types of explosives, in the United States are subject to various laws, depending on location. Firecrackers themselves are not considered illegal contraband material. It is the sale, possession, and use of firecrackers that are subject to laws. Some states or local governments require a permit to legally sell, possess, or use firecrackers; sometimes with different permits for different areas.

It may depend on the state, but I wouldn't worry too much. You'll find yourself getting in trouble if you start using them for mischief and pranks.

Other than that it is not illegal to blow them up in your own house.

Yes you can let them of as long as you don't do it in public.
