he signed with the grizles after waiting out the whole free agency to sign to a championship team but then had to settle for them as the only team that would have him.

he reguested a leave from the grizzles after a few games of coming off the bench and being unhappy where he was and his role and minutes on the team. he was released from the grizzles roster about a week ago and remains a free agent today.

And now they say he's retiring...

What happened to Allen Iverson?

Allen Iverson is set to retire from the NBA, according to an online report. Commentator Stephen A. Smith published a statement on his Web site Wednesday attributed to Iverson. It said Iverson plans to retire but also that "I feel strongly that I can still compete at the highest level."

Iverson, 34, had signed with the Memphis Grizzlies this season for his 14th NBA campaign. He lasted three games and left the team for personal reasons. The Grizzlies later released him.

It appears that he has chosen to retire because he could not find another team to sign him and give him the playing time he believes he deserved.
