John List Bust?

In 1989, America's Most Wanted hired a guy to sculpt John List, a New Jersey fugitive on the FBI's most-wanted list for 18 years after killing his wife, mother, and three children. Using old photos, the sculptor cast the murderer in a bust made of clay with wrinkles, a receding hairline, and tortoiseshell glasses. Two weeks after the program aired, FBI agents nabbed their man - looking just as the sculptor had imagined.
Can I see a photo of the bust?

Frank Bender used psychology and science in equal parts to build a lifelike bust of John List, complete with white hair and a receding hairline, drooping brows and jaw, and thick dark glasses.

On May 21, 1989, John List made his AMW debut -- and AMW history. More than 200 tips came in from all across the country tracking him from Denver, Colo. to Richmond, Va.
That's how they captured John List.
