The New Jersey governor's race is coming down to the wire, with Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine (KOHR'-zyn) locked in a tight battle with Republican former federal prosecutor Chris Christie.

Third-party maverick Chris Daggett holds the potential to play the spoiler in Tuesday's election.

Corzine's popularity has suffered after he failed to deliver property tax relief to the middle class. President Barack Obama has campaigned on his behalf, and a Corzine loss would sting Obama in a state he carried last year.

Christie has pledged to solve the state's chronic financial problems but has been criticized for remaining vague about how he would do it.

Daggett is a former Environmental Protection Agency administrator who has proposed expanding the sales tax base.
