Beef Recall November 2009?

Consumers from North Carolina to Maine are being advised to check their freezers for ground beef, including meatloaf or meatball mix, possibly related to a death in New Hampshire and illnesses in other states.
Can you give me more specifications about this month's beef recall: november 2009?
Please let me know because I have my fridge full of meat.

Stop before you make the shepherd’s pie for dinner if you bought your ground beef at BJ’s, Price Chopper, Shaw’s or Trader Joe’s. There’s a chance that almost a half-million pounds of beef out on the streets contains E.coli.

Fairbank Farms, a New York ground beef manufacturer, issued a voluntary recall for a line of fresh ground beef sold in eight states, including Connecticut.

The recall affects almost 550,000 pounds of beef produced between Sept. 14 and Sept. 16. The sell-by dates are from Sept. 19 to 28.

If you just bought the beef, you should be fine. It’s no longer being sold as fresh product in supermarkets, according to Fairbank Farms.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that Fairbank Farms is voluntarily recalling 545,699 pounds of fresh ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The company said on Friday (30 October) that it became aware of the problem during an investigation into a cluster of E. coli illnesses.

The fresh ground beef products subject to recall and illnesses are centred in the Connecticut, Maine and Massachusetts counties.

The recalls include Trader Joes, Price Chopper, Lancaster and Wild Harvest, Shaw's, BJ's, Ford Brothers and Giant products.

Each package bears the establishment number "EST. 492" inside the USDA mark of inspection or on the nutrition label. The products were packaged on 15 and 16 September and may have been labelled at the retail stores with a sell-by date from 19-28 September.

The products were sent to distribution centres, intended for further distribution to retail establishments in Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
