The immature battle between Pedro Martinez and Don Zimmer continues even six years later. Man, I thought this thing was over years ago. I guess the World Series just brings out the competitive drama.
The incident in question occurred during game 3 of the 2003 ALCS. Zimmer had been angered by Boston starter Martinez pitching inside to (and occasionally hitting) opposing batters, including Karim Garcia in the top of the 4th inning.
Apparently, Zimmer had completely ignored (or forgotten) that New York starter Clemens had been well known for the exact same behavior for his entire career, including a high-and-tight fastball to Manny Ramirez in the bottom of the 4th inning.
