Grandparents Day is the first Sunday after Labor Day. In 1979 Jimmy Carter urged the nation to celebrate this holiday for the very first time. He said, "As we seek to strengthen the enduring values of the family, it is appropriate that we honor our grandparents." Plain and simple, this is a day when we show respect and love for grandparents, whether ours or someone else's.

Date:
Grandparents Day is observed in September, on the Sunday after Labor Day.

Reason We Celebrate Grandparents Day:
To honor grandparents, give grandparents a chance to honor grandchildren and to make children aware of the great source of knowledge that can be gained from the elderly.
