Stefaan Engels began the challenge a year ago in Barcelona, Spain, competed in seven countries, and finished his last race in the same city. In total, he covered 9,569 miles.
Engels said he did it as a personal challenge, and as an example to others.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the previous record for most marathons run on consecutive days was 52. It was achieved by Akinori Kusuda.
For Engels, this is the second time he made it into the Guinness Book. In 2008, he earned the honor for finishing a record 20 Iron Man triathlons in a single year.
