Tide Anthrax Mail Scare Real or Hoax?

My mother just got a text message saying that Anthrax was found in some Tide detergent packages throughout the country.

According to the message, 7 people died from anthrax when they opened the Tide box.

Is everyone in the US receiving anthrax in the mail or only a solicited few? I'm a little scared about this, I've received free samples of products before.

Is the Tide-Anthrax mail scare real or just a hoax by some prankster?

Rumors have been floating around the web that mail samples of Tide detergent have been laced with anthrax.

The mail scare is not real and is just a hoax. People with way too much time on their hands started the rumor years ago and from time to time is spread on the web.

Snopes found no evidence that anyone, anywhere has ever been poisoned, harmed or contracted anthrax in Tide detergent samples.

I used to believe stuff like this before, now I realized most rumors on the web end up being a lie.
