2010 Census Results by State?

The Census Bureau released the first set of 2010 Census data today, which included the resident population for the nation and the states and the congressional apportionment totals for each state.

The release of population numbers begins what figures to be a politically divisive process in the nation's second-largest state on how to divvy up the seats.

Naturally the 2010 US census results should be higher then in the last 5 years, even the economic conditions are really bad now.

The first results of the April 1, 2010, Census count unveiled Tuesday reveal a nation that has been transformed by the recession and the housing bust.

According to the 2010 Census, the population of the United States has grown 9.7 percent since the 2000 Census to a total of 308,745,538.

California's official population has grown 10 percent over the past decade to 37,253,564 and became the most populated state. Wyoming is the least-populated state, with more than 563,000 residents.

Southeastern Kentucky was home to four of the nation's poorest counties. The country's poorest county saw its median income drop $1,500 since 2000.

Twelve seats will shift as a result of the 2010 results. Texas will gain four new representatives, and Florida will get two, while Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah, and Washington will gain one each.
