Wildfires north of Los Angeles are threatening to destroy broadcast and cellular communications towers and the observatory at the top of Mount Wilson where Edwin Hubble did his work.
A Web site called Southern California Incidents is posting updates on its home page and Twitter feed. The Los Angeles Times has extensive coverage of the battle to bring the fires under control, including a dedicated Twitter feed and a Google Map.
