Is Veterans Day a Federal & National Holiday?

Is Veterans day a federal and national holiday? My boss said that Veterans day is considered a public and legal holiday, what does that mean?
Does it mean that banks are going to be open or closed? Is there going to be school on Veterans day?
And one more important question. Is Veterans day a paid holiday or not?

Veterans day is considered a federal holiday. No banks and no mail.
There is no legal requirement that schools close on Veterans Day, however, there should not be classes on Veteran's Day. All public schools where we live will be open.

Having family members who have served, and are currently serving in the Marines, I'd say that holding classes on Veterans Day does a great dishonor to all the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our nation's security.

We celebrate Veterans day to show our appreciation to all the brave Men and Women who have made sacrifices in Military service of our country to protect our Freedom.

I'm not sure if veterans day is a paid holiday, you should ask your boss about that.
