David Cassidy is best known for his role in '70s TV show The Partridge Family. He was arrested for DUI in Fort Pierce, Florida at 6 pm on Wednesday after a highway patrolman spotted the star weaving on and off the road, and nearly hitting another car.

There was no mention of the arrest on Cassidy' official web page Thursday. The latest news section featured an item that a gig he performed in 1989 in the Ukraine was being posted on YouTube.

David Cassidy has denied being drunk behind the wheel after being arrested in Florida.

Police described David Cassidy as unsteady on his feet, said he failed an alcohol breath test, and that they found a half empty bottle of bourbon on the back seat of his Mercedes car. Cassidy said he had only drunk a glass of wine at lunchtime and had taken a painkiller for back pain earlier in the day.

The trooper who stopped the Partridge Family star wrote in his report that Cassidy was apologetic, appeared nervous and confused and smelled of alcohol.

According to an arrest report obtained by People, Cassidy allegedly crossed the center divider line, then cut off another driver while attempting to merge onto an exit ramp. He was charged with DUI, failure to maintain a single lane and having an open container.

David Cassidy, who resides in Fort Lauderdale, dried out in St. Lucie County Jail and was released around 3 a.m. today on $350 bail.
