The FDA has detected a potentially toxic substance in Hyland's Teething Tablets and urges consumers to discard them, according to a statement.

The FDA says it has received reports of "serious adverse effects" in children and found the tablets contain inconsistent amounts of belladonna, a substance that can cause harm in larger doses. The company maintains that the tablets are safe, but are recalling them as a precaution.

Excess use of Belladonna could potentially bring breathlessness, tiredness, weakness and constipation and the FDA has advised parents to be cautious and not give it to children.
