African Mango's Irvingia Gabonensis: Diet & Weight Loss?

Dr. Oz explored weight loss alternatives and one of the supplements he mentioned was Irvingia Gabonensis which is made from the African mango tree, and has been shown to reduce appetite by increasing the amount of leptin in your bloodstream.
Supposedly with African Mango, you get to burn fat, increase metabolism, and simultaneously lower leptin levels. But how effective is Irvingia Gabonensis for weight loss?

African Mango, also known as Irvingia Gabonensis grows profusely in West Africa. Extract from seeds of this fruit inhibits fat production according to lab tests from the University of Yaounde in Cameroon (published by Lipids in Health and Disease journal). Through positive effect on metabolism regulating genes and enzymes, African mango extract sheds those pounds while you sleep.

The way Irvingia Gabonensis works is it lowers the amount of c-reactive protein in your body. The more C-Reactive Protein you have the less Leptin (the hormone that tells your body to stop eating/helps burn fat) can make it to your brain and do it's job. There's no stimulating effects at all.

Irvingia is a good source of fiber. Fiber can provide numerous health benefits and play a role in body fat control. Future research might show that Irvingia Gabonensis and or an Irvingia and Cissus combination may provide significant health benefits.
