The Elmwood IL tornado has caused some destruction in the central region of the state.
Due to the severe weather conditions in the state, the local county issued a warning of a tornado and rescue crews were sent to the affected areas for the assistance of the sufferers.

It was reported that 45 buildings were damaged in Elmwood, in Peoria County.

Illinois Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Patti Thompson says the small town of Dwight, in Livingston County, was also hit hard. About 40 mobile homes and about 10 other homes were destroyed. She says more than a dozen people were injured and at least six were hospitalized.

The strongest activity appeared to hit the Pantagraph area in the 8 and 9 o'clock hours. There was heavy damage reported west of Lostant and in Streator, with a tornado on the ground reported to the NWS just before 9 p.m. Semitractor trailers were reportedly blown off Interstate 39 just south of Lostant, several hundred feet into nearby cornfields.

At a morning news conference, Mayor Jimmie Lansford said 17 people were taken to a local hospital for treatment, though he didn't have information on their conditions. He also said 30 buildings had "major structural damage." The city of Streator is being described as a “war zone” that was completely leveled by last nights storms.
