Jeriome Robertson Accident Death?

Some sad news to report from the world of baseball over the weekend. Jeriome Robertson, a former pitcher for the Astros and Indians, died when he crashed his motorcycle in Exeter, Calif., on Saturday night.

Robertson, 33, pitched parts of three seasons with the Astros and Indians. In his rookie season with Houston, 2003, he went 15-9 with a 5.10 ERA and finished seventh in National League Rookie of the Year voting.

A report in the Visalia Times Delta confirmed Robertson's death through his high school coach at Exeter High School. The report stated that Robertson lost control of his 2007 Yamaha Warrior while making a turn at 70 miles per hour, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Robertson was ejected from the bike, sustaining fatal injuries.

Robertson was well known around the valley for his stand-out baseball skills.

"He always had a fire for baseball as long as I knew him," Robertson's high school coach, Steve Garver, told the Visalia Times-Delta. "Even when he'd come back, he would always stop by and come out to practice. He was great with the kids. He always wanted to help out and do whatever he could for the high school kids."
