Portsmouth NH Bomb Scare On Bus?

There was a bomb scar in a Portsmouth NH bus.
Someone aboard a Maine-to-New York City bus carrying 18 people in Portsmouth NH called 911 to report a bomb on board Thursday, leading police to evacuate buildings and streets, call the passengers out under the watch of a sharpshooter, and question the last person left inside.

The bus was stopped in downtown Portsmouth, N.H. for nearly three hours and surrounded by law enforcement officers.

Was there a bomb inside the bus or was it just a scare?

According to Portsmouth Police Cpt. Mike Schwartz, 17 people were on the bus.

Portsmouth Police Captain Mike Schwartz said police received a 911 call expressing concern about a device on the bus at about 11:15 a.m. The driver was informed and disabled his bus, as it was leaving the Portsmouth stop on Hanover Street between a large parking garage and the Hilton Garden Inn.

Passengers exited the vehicle with their hands up and walked down the street flanked by SWAT team members.

At approximately 11:40 a.m. Thursday, police and firefighters responded to the area of the High-Hanover parking garage, where they surrounded a Greyhound bus while watching a subject inside. Shortly afterwards emergency responders began evacuating nearby businesses.
The state police explosives disposal unit, the FBI, and other federal agents joined local police on the scene.

Police say the driver got off the bus after he parked it on the side of the road and also was being questioned.

Police were in contact with people on the bus, but it was unclear why they remained on board for more than two hours before they started to leave. They left the bus one by one — separated by a couple minutes each — and carried no purses or bags. Most held their hands aloft as they passed officers with their weapons drawn.

The bus arrived in Portsmouth for a regularly scheduled stop. It left Bangor at 6:30 a.m. and Portland, Me., at 10:15 a.m.
