So is today really Star Wars Day? That's why they say May The 4th Be With You?
I didn't know there was an official National Star Wars Day.
How are you supposed to celebrate national Star Wars day?

Who designated May 4th as the national Star Wars Day and who started this celebration?
Just found out about it and want to know as much as I can about it.

Today is International Star Wars Day, an unofficial holiday to commemorate all things Star Wars. The original movie was released on May 25, 1977, but devoted fans have chosen May 4 as their day of celebration, based on the pun: "May the fourth be with you."

The origin of Star Wars day May the Fourth is tricky. Some reports have it originating in 1994, to the unlikely source of the UK Parliament. Others say it's obvious since the "may the fourth" phrase is pointing the date.

"It's nice that this particular date seems to observe and celebrate the power of the Force, and we're thrilled that 'Star Wars' fans continue to find new ways to connect with a galaxy far, far away," a spokesman for Lucas Films told the New York Daily News.

"Of course, regardless of the date, the Force will be with us ... always."

Expect May 25, the anniversary of the 1977 premier of the first movie in the "Star Wars" trilogy, to also inspire light-saber themed celebrations.
