Why is Windows so Expensive?

Dell has seen Microsoft’s price list for Windows 7 and the PC manufacturer isn’t happy, warning that over-pricing will cruel consumer demand for OS upgrades and new PCs.
Why do you think Microsoft Windows is so expensive, I mean, it is a buggy operating system and Microsoft expects people to pay a lot for it? What do you think?

Windows is expensive because they can get away with it. Some users have been using Windows programs so long that they would never consider switching, even in the light of better and cheaper software.
My dad for example, he would never use another operating system because he is used to Windows and he doesn't have time to learn a new OS.

Today I think I finally understood why Windows is so expensive. A few people have suggested that it is superior to other operating systems, and well worth the price. They're right.

A senior marketing executive from Dell has spoken out against the pricing plans for the forthcoming OS, saying that Windows 7 will be more expensive than Vista. Maybe Windows 7 is so much better the price is right.

Windows is expensive because it's easy to use.
