Owain Glyndwr Title?

Today this question was on Jeopardy:

“Owain Glyndwr, who died circa 1416, was the last native of his country to claim this title.” The question was “Who is the Prince of Wales?”

Who was Owain Glyndwr and what title did he claim?
Is he part of American history somehow? What can you tell me about Owain Glyndwr and his title?

Owain Glyndwr anglicised by William Shakespeare as Owen Glendower and also sometimes styled Owain IV of Wales by modern historians, was a Welsh ruler and the last native Welsh person to hold the title Prince of Wales.
No name is so frequently invoked on Wales as that of Owain Glyndwr (c. 1349-1416), a potent figurehead of Welsh nationalism ever since he rose up against the occupying English in the first few years of the fifteenth century.
It was in 1400 that he was proclaimed Prince of Wales in the name that he has been carried through history - Owain Glyndwr.
The rebellion failed and Glyndwr disappeared into the mists of time, many believing he spent his last years as a priest in Kentchurch, Herefordshire near the manor of Sir John Scudamore to whom his daughter, Alice, was married.
