Venezuela Earthquake Today (2010)?

When they were talking about the earthquake in Venezuela today I thought they were talking about the Haiti earthquake.
So apparently there are now two earthquakes, one in Venezuela too.
Is today's earthquake in Venezuela as serious as the one in Haiti? Why so many earthquakes in 2010?

A moderate earthquake shook eastern Venezuela today, but officials said there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
It wasn't as big as the earthquake in Haiti, it was just felt.

The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 and was centered 25 miles west of the town of Carupano.
Venezuelans sure got scared by the earthquake.
