Actress Peggy Rea, known for her television roles in "Grace Under Fire" and "Step by Step," died on Monday.

She was 89 and known to a wide range of television fans from her roles as Cousin Lulu on The Dukes of Hazzard.

According to a friend of Peggy Rea, the cause of her death was complications of heart failure.

Peggy Rea died on February 5 at her home in the Los Angeles-area community of Toluca Lake.

Born and raised in California, Peggy Rea went to New York and landed Broadway roles in a 1950 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire and the Cole Porter musical Out of This World.

Rea began her long TV career in the '60s and appeared on shows such as "I Love Lucy," "Bonanza," "Gunsmoke," "The Golden Girls" and "MacGyver."

Peggy Rea's film credits include Cold Turkey (1971), In Country (1989), Love Field (1992) and Made in America (1993).
