Do kids need ID to fly?

I have two kids. They are 5 and 7.
I'm taking them on a vacation trip to Miami, they have no idea about it is a surprise.
We're leaving next week and since this is the first time they'll be on a plane and fly I wanted to ask what are the ID requirements for them to fly to another state.
We are all citizens.

Children are not required to have ID when flying within the US.
I have three kids and I travel with them all the time. I have passports for them but we've never been asked for them.
In the case they are 18 or older they just need the ID from the state but if they are younger they don't need anything.

Kids are not required to show identification to fly to another state.
Generally, children are not required to present ID for travel within the U.S., but you should contact your airline before you travel to check exactly what, if anything, is needed.
Children only need ID on international flights, in this case their passport.
