Cicadas were last seen in 1998 when as many as 1.5 million could be found swarming a single acre.
Cicadas are perhaps the noisiest of all the insects. Actually the sounds are the mating calls of the males; most female cicadas are silent.
Most of the periodical cicadas you’ll see have red or reddish-orange eyes. A very small number, however, have white, blue, or yellow eyes.
