Rome Airport & Volcano: Open Or Closed?

Large parts of Europe including the Rome airport enforced no-fly rulings yesterday because of a huge ash cloud from an Icelandic volcano that has caused the worst air travel chaos since the Sept. 11 attacks.

Is the Rome airport open or closed today?
In the news they were saying the Rome Airport was not closed, it was left open but no flights are being operated right now. Is this true?

Rome Airport is not closed. Flights are delayed due to a high traffic. But the Rome Airport is so far functioning.

The place is known as the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport by Italian locals, it is one of the numerous airports that have decided to suspend their airport activities while the world is waiting for the natural disaster to finish.

No flights until the ash cloud is gone though.
