Raleigh NC: Ashley Turton Cause of Death?

Officials are investigating the death of Ashley Turton, a Washington energy lobbyist from Raleigh NC who was the wife of a White House aide.

Turton was found dead in a burning car in the garage behind her Capitol Hill home on Monday morning, and an investigation by the Washington fire and police departments is under way.

Ashley Turton was found by firefighters in the driver’s seat of a BMW X-5 after they were called to extinguish a blaze at about 4:45 a.m.

What was Ashley Turton doing inside of the burning car and what is her cause of death? Did somebody burned her or was it an accident?

The cause of Ashley Turton’s death is still uncertain, but DC Fire Department spokesman Pete Piringer says the fire and death appear to be an accident.

According to firefighters, Ashley Turton's car may have crashed and caught fire. Police have said the BMW crashed into the interior of the garage at the home and fire engulfed the entire place.

The front end of the vehicle was charred and facing into the burning garage. The back end, less damaged than the front, was protruding slightly from the site.

Ashley Turton was a lobbyist for Progress Energy, and her husband, Dan, is the top White House liaison to the House of Representatives. The couple has three children.
