Bipolar Disorder Symptoms in Women?

What are the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder in Women?
My daughter has some weird reactions some times and she always jokes about being bipolar and having the disorder. At first I thought it was just a phase but now I'm really interested in knowing the symptoms because I suspect she might have it.
How do you know if someone has Bipolar disorder? Can it be medically diagnosed by a doctor or a psychologist? Let me know as many symptoms in women as you know.

The primary symptoms of bipolar disorder in women are dramatic and unpredictable mood swings.
An overly joyful or overexcited state is called a manic episode, and an extremely sad or hopeless state is called a depressive episode.
Increased activity and gestures like for example pacing and tapping feet may be seen as indications.
For many women, the first symptoms of bipolar disorder show up in their early twenties.
I think you should ask a professional about your daughter's specific behavior to make sure she's fine.
