Spaghettios Recall Details?

Campbell Soup Supply Company, the maker of SpaghettiOs, is recalling approximately 15,000,000 pounds of "SpaghettiOs with Meatballs" canned products because of possible under-processing, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Campbell Soup Co. will be pulling SpaghettiOs from shelves across the country after a cooker at one of the company's Texas plants malfunctioned.

Both Campbell's Soup and ConAgra are issuing recalls on processed foods because of potential food safety issues.

Details: The SpaghettiOs recall involves 14.75-ounce cans of "SpaghettiOs" with Meatballs, "SpaghettiOs" A to Z with Meatballs, and "SpaghettiOs" Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars). (See photos of the product labels below, courtesy of USDA).

There have been no illnesses related to consumption of the SpaghettiOs, but Campbell spokesman Anthony Sanzio said the company is recalling certain lots of the product manufactured since December 2008 "out of an abundance of caution" because officials don't know exactly when a cooker at the Paris, Texas, plant malfunctioned.

ConAgra issued a national recall of all Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken & Rice frozen meals because of a potential link to an outbreak of salmonella Chester that has left 29 sick in 14 states, USA Today reported.
