Rockies' Keli McGregor was found in his hotel room after two of his colleagues couldn’t get hold of him. When somebody got into his room McGregor was found unconscious.

Detective Rick Wall said that police had been contacted at 11:00 a.m. ET and that the investigation was now being handled by the Salt Lake City medical examiner’s office to establish the cause of death. Detective Wall went on to say that there seemed to be nothing suspicious and no signs of foul play.

Commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement:
"Keli was one of our game's rising young stars. He was a great athlete and equally great as a baseball administrator. Also, he was a great human being. All of baseball will miss him."

There was no suicide or murder.

The most memorable season under McGregor as team president was in 2007 when they reached the World Series for the first-time and what was dubbed “Rocktober” saw the Rockies win the last 14 of 15 games and clinched the NL Wild Card with a franchise record of 90 wins.

Keli McGregor was survived by his wife, Lori, along with three daughters and a son.
