Jessica McClure: Baby Jessica Rescue?

Twenty-three years ago, on Oct. 14, 1987, an 18-month-old named Jessica McClure had fallen 22 feet into a narrow eight-inch-wide abandoned well.
The event was known as the Baby Jessica rescue and it was a similar story to that of the Chilean miners.

The Texan toddler was playing in her backyard when she accidentally fell into an empty well. It was a miracle; she made it out after 58 hours without as much as a couple of scratches on her body.
Where is Jessica McClure today? What is she doing now in 2010?

Jessica McClure is still "Baby Jessica" to many after 23 years.

Baby Jessica captured the attention of global media and the hearts of strangers as the world watched her rescue on live TV.

Those closest to McClure describe her as happy and having no recollection of the frightening days she was stuck deep in the ground, though she did have to have part of her right foot amputated.

Her story spawned a book and a TV movie called Everybody's Baby: The Rescue of Jessica McClure with Patty Duke and Beau Bridges.

Today just so happens to be the 23rd anniversary of the event. Since then, Jessica McClure has had to endure more than a dozen surgeries, but is now the proud mother of a young boy. Even better, she will receive a trust fund worth over $1 million generated by donations that poured in after the rescue. Itís good to see her doing well.
