Is Mitt Romney a Mormon?

Mitt Romney is an American business man who is also a Republic politician from Detroit, MI. I saw an article that said Mitt Romney lacks trust on issues such as outlawing abortion and opposing gay marriage and because he is a Mormon.
But is it true that Mitt Romney's religion is Mormon? Because I always thought that he was a Christian, he makes it clear in his principles.
I was truly surprised when I read Mitt Romney was a Mormon, maybe false information?

Officially, Mitt Romney is known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which is known as Mormonism. So you can say he is a Mormon.
Actually if you read his complete biography, you'll find out that Mitt Romney is from a Mormon family in Detroit and he his beliefs have sometimes caused conflict among other Republican politicians.
But I think that his religion should not affect his political career. Mitt Romney also has several Gold Plates, Mormons believe that they are a gift from the God.
