Mormon Bishop Killed in Visalia Church California?

Police in the Central Valley city of Visalia are investigating the death of a Mormon bishop who was killed. Bishop Clay Sannar was shot dead in an office at Visalia's Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California.
I'm confused by this, who would want to kill a mormon bishop?
What exactly happened to the bishop? Who was the man that killed him and why?

It happened just after noon Sunday at the 800 block of West Tulare Ave. in Visalia.
The church shooting was followed minutes later by an officer reportedly shooting the suspect.

The killer's name is Kenneth James Ward. He walked into the church, asked for the leader, waited for some time, then walked into Mormon Bishop Clay Sannarís office and shot him dead.
Nobody know why this man did it.
After the shooting, he identified himself to police as the attacker. Police responded, and there was a confrontation with several shots exchanged.

The Mormon Bishop and his wife had six sons, the youngest blessed in front of the congregation just a short time ago.
