Windows XP Not Detecting Hard Drive?

Hopefully someone will be able to help here. I currently have a Fujitsu-Siemens Laptop which came with Windows XP installed.
I just installed a SATA drive and booted up the PC. When I go to my pc to access the new hard drive, there is still only one hard drive, the original one under disk drives.
Somehow windows xp is not detecting my new hard drive.

Is there something else I can do to get windows xp to see that drive so I can format it and start using it?

simple explination...
the reason for all your problems is simple. WINDOWS!
this steaming pile of software doesn't have the capability to add 2+2, let alone detecting its own hardware. even a mac can out preform windows...

my suggestion is deleting windows completely and trying ubuntu/Linux programs. i am hard against Windows and Microsoft simple because the media has rapes your brain into thinking that this is actually a good operating system... get an o.s. with some balls!
