How Do I Play MKV files?

My brother ripped a movie from a DVD, the file has the extension MKV. I tried playing it on Windows Media Player but it just won't work.
Is there a plugin for WMP or a special player I can use to play these type of files (MKV)?

A file with the extension .mkv is a Matroska video/audio multimedia file. Matroska is a container like MOV and AVI.
The good thing about this file format is that the quality of the rip can be very good. Way better than regular AVI formats you can find on the net.

To play a file with MKV extension I recommend you download "Zoom Player" from inmatrix.com Zoom Player is an amazing video and audio player, just try it.
