Brooke Astor Trial Summary?

Can you explain me the trial of Brooke Astor's son? Can you make a summary for me?
I'm reading Brooke Astor's son was convicted by a jury of defrauding his mother of money as she struggled in her last years with Alzheimer's disease.
He is being sent to jail now. What happened to Brooke Astor?

Summary of the trial:

Anthony Marshall, Brooke Astor's son, 85 years old, was convicted on 14 of 16 criminal counts, including grand larceny and a scheme to defraud. The jury acquitted on a second count of grand larceny and a count of falsifying business records.

Brooke Astor's 85-year-old son said in court papers that he's too sick and doesn't deserve to go to prison for plundering his philanthropist mother's fortune, enlisting such famous friends as Whoopi Goldberg and Al Roker in a bid to stay free.

A jury found Marshall guilty of taking advantage of Brooke Astor's mental decline to loot her nearly $200 million fortune, through methods ranging from engineering changes to her will to taking artwork off her walls.
