The New York Mets finally made their long-awaited answer to the significant moves of their crosstown and division rivals -- that would be the Yankees and Phillies, respectively -- agreeing to terms with free agent left fielder Jason Bay on a four-year contract believed to be worth around $65 million.

The Mets have signed Bay to a four-year, $66 million contract. There is a vesting option for a fifth-year, which could bring to the total value to the contract to $80 million.
