New Jersey & Boston Hurricane Irene Evacuations?

I've been hearing about how Hurricane Irene is going to affect the city of New York. What I don't know if it's going to affect New Jersey & Boston.
Are those cities within Hurricane Irene's destructive path and if so, have any evacuation measures been announced?
I'm asking because some family members live in Boston and I'm worried about them.
It looks like Hurricane Irene is going to cause massive damage with its severe winds and heavy rains.

Hurricane Irene has her eyes fixed on Atlantic City tonight as she rages on toward the coast of New Jersey.
North Jersey residents are bracing not only for the storm surge but also heavy river flooding along the Passaic, Ramapo and Saddle rivers.
In Boston, an immediate flash flood warning was issued for several counties west of the city.
The Boston area's public transportation authority has decided to shut down all services as Hurricane Irene is getting closer.
