Hurricane Irene in Bahamas?

Hurricane Irene strengthened Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and has now reached Category 3 status, which means it is a dangerous storm.
Tracking by the National Hurricane Center has Irene heading northwest across the Caribbean, toward the Bahamas.
I live near the Bahamas and I'm very concerned about the safety of my family and the possible damage Hurricane Irene can cause. Has it been confirmed that the hurricane will hit here first?

Irene is a major hurricane and is starting to take more of a northwesterly track.
Irene is expected to rake the Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Most of the U.S. will get strong hurricane force winds, which are defined as those with speeds of 74 mph or more.
If you live near Bahamas, be very cautious and make sure you're safe during the storm.
Hurricane Irene could cause flooding, power outages or worse all along the East coast as far north as Maine, even if it stays offshore.
