Mike Leach Suspension?

Mike Leach will not coach Texas Tech in the Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2 against Michigan State.
Texas Tech coach Mike Leach has been suspended.
The school is investigating some complaints from a player. What's this suspension all about? Does Mike Leach's suspension has a valid cause?

Mike Leach, the pirate-loving offensive genius who guided Texas Tech to perhaps its finest football season in school history last year, has been suspended from the team’s Jan. 2 Alamo bowl game because, according to ESPN’s Joe Schad, Leach allegedly “isolated a player in a dark closet for not practicing with a concussion.” The suspension is being called “indefinite.”

Leach has had issues in Lubbock this season, but if Schad’s sources are accurate, these are much more serious and Leach could get Mangino’d. Kansas forced coach Mark Mangino to resign earlier this month for alleged mistreatment of players. South Florida’s Jim Leavitt is under investigation for allegedly striking a player. And now Leach is embroiled in a scandal. Sports Illustrated and ESPN will be racing to see who can churn out the trend piece quicker.

There's been internal strife this season with the Red Raiders and Mike Leach has resorted to some tongue-lashing.

He chastised players after a loss to Texas A&M in October for listening to "their fat little girlfriends," and thinking the Aggies were a pushover. And after the Red Raiders' loss at then-No. 12 Houston in September, Leach suspended indefinitely starting offensive lineman Brandon Carter for violating team rules.

Leach will not coach his team in the Alamo Bowl. The suspension took place after the university received a complaint from a player and his parents regarding Leach's treatment of an athlete.
