The details about his illness are not clear. Dean Richards was suffering from headaches and dizzy spells during his time at Tottenham.
When he was checked, he was told by doctors he had an abnormality on the brain.
They advised Dean Richards that it would be harmful to his health to continue playing football so he retired.
Dean Richards' last role was a youth team coach back at League Two Bradford, the city of his birth.

Dean Richards' funeral took place in his native Bradford today and was attended by several former team-mates.
He was a great guy, I wish his family the best.

I looked up this page because i saw them talking about dean Richards death on the news. I'm suffering from the same symptoms and am waiting for a hospital appointment. Its got me really worried, I'm only 19 and I don't dare go out the house because I feel that dizzy and spaced out all the time and I fall over and pass out! If I find out whats wrong with me, I'll let you all know to shed some light on what it might be, if his cause of death ain't released.

This has been destroying my life for the last 6 months and wen my problems first started I went to the docs, they gave me numerous ear infection sprays because that's what they thought I had so that worries me even more because that's what they initially thought dean had! My eyesight started messing up and started getting real bad headaches so I'm just waiting! Please wish me luck.

Hey Elly,

I have exactly the same symptoms as yours, apart from the eyesight thing. Been to the docs about 4 times over the last 6 months and have received the same advice as you have, more or less. Put olive oil in my ear, prescribed ear drops and nasal spray etc. Only ever made things slightly more bearable temporarily but never a proper solution. I'm going back to the docs tomorrow and try and demand to see a ear, nose and throat specialist. Did you get any news further to your last post on here ? If I learn anything more I will update if you are interested.
