Lorcaserin Review & Side Effects?

There is a new pill named Lorcaserin that according to scientists it is the best weight loss pill so far.

San Diego-based Arena Pharmaceutical, the makers of Lorcaserin, says that just about half of the patients taking its drug pill lorcaserin in a two-year trial lost at least five percent of their body weight. And that's about twice the rate of weight loss registered in the placebo group.
Diet pills currently available in market have had negative side effects or cannot be taken for a long time. But this pill is different, it doesn't affect your heart.

Are there any reviews of Lorcaserin? What are the side effects of this new drug?

Lorcaserin is considered as a major breakthrough in the weight loss field. The round blue tablet is thought to be the first novel weight-loss pill in over two decades, if it receives approval. Lorcaserin is more selective in nature, and perhaps safer than other pill available today.

Lorcaserin is one of three potential blockbusters that could reach the market over the next several years. A key to their success could lie in the safety profile, as prior diet pills have faced issues with heart-related problems. One-half of the drug combination "fen-phen" was pulled from the market in 1997 after it was tied to heart valve problems.

Except for headaches and dizziness, side effects were essentially no worse with the drug than placebo. There was no higher rate of heart valve problems a key concern. However, larger studies are needed to conclusively rule out this risk.

Also, it does not have the same problems as the previous weight-loss drugs, Fen-Phen (Phentermine), Acomplia (rimonabant) or Meridia (sibutramine), which had been associated with heart problems.
