The cause of death is still unknown. Houston businessman Dan Duncan died at his home the night of March 28.
Duncan's business Enterprise Products Partners LP, a natural gas and crude oil pipeline company, announced the news today in a statement.

Duncan is described by the Houston Business Journal as a "longtime oilman" and co-founder of Houston-based Enterprise in 1968.

Born in Shelby County, Texas, Duncan was known for his large philanthropic contributions to local organizations such as M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, where he made a $100 million donation in 2006.

The Duncans have been more than generous with their riches.

They've donated more than $200 million of their vast fortune to medical centers and museums in recent years. They include the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Duncan survived by his wife, four children, and four grandchildren.
The company said it did not plan to change ownership or management of the partnerships.

The circumstances leading up to his death were not immediately known.
