Can girls get pregnant during their period?

My friend at school is pregnant. She knows because she took a pregnancy test twice and it came out positive, her parents doesn't know a thing about it yet.
She's supposedly pregnant for a week now but today she told me that she was on her period when she had sexual intercourse with a guy.
Now I'm confused because I didn't know it was possible to be on your period and still get pregnant. Is it possible?

A lot of people think that if a girl has sex during her period, she can't get pregnant. But it is possible for a girl to get pregnant while she is bleeding.
Just because your eggs are releasing doesn't mean the sperm of a guy can not connect with an egg that is still in your ovaries. It is a myth that a woman can't get pregnant while she is on her period. Your body can release eggs at any time.
However it happens in rare cases, your friend was out of luck.
it is possible, but not that likely.
Remember that having unprotected sex at any time is very risky.
