Serena Williams Pulmonary Embolism Disease?

Serena Williams was hospitalized last month because of a pulmonary embolism and then required further emergency treatment for a hematoma.
What is pulmonary embolism? Is it some sort of disease?

When is Serena Williams going to be back to playing tennis?
Is the pulmonary embolism going to have an impact on her performance?

Serena Williams’ absence from tennis could stretch to a year after.
Serena said she hopes to return to tennis in “early summer” after the treatment is over.

Pulmonary Embolism is not a disease. The term is used when you have a blood clot in your lungs.
Classically, a person develops a pulmonary embolism when he or she has risk factors for the problem.

The cloth can originate anywhere in your body.
