It is believed the only reasons Halladay would be in Philly would be to take a physical and negotiate a long-term contract. Halladay's contract expires at the end of the 2010 season at which point he could become a free agent. He is owed $15.75 million this year. FoxSports.com is reporting that the Phillies have not yet received permission from the commissioner's office to negotiate a long-term contract with Halladay, meaning a deal is not imminent. Philadelphia was one of the teams that was in hot pursuit of Halladay prior to the July 31 trade deadline last summer. |
