Kilo It is believed the only reasons Halladay would be in Philly would be to take a physical and negotiate a long-term contract. Halladay's contract expires at the end of the 2010 season at which point he could become a free agent. He is owed $15.75 million this year.

FoxSports.com is reporting that the Phillies have not yet received permission from the commissioner's office to negotiate a long-term contract with Halladay, meaning a deal is not imminent.

Philadelphia was one of the teams that was in hot pursuit of Halladay prior to the July 31 trade deadline last summer.

Roy Halladay Contract?

Roy Halladay is heading to the Phillies in a three-team trade that probably will send Cliff Lee to the Seattle Mariners. Roy Halladay becomes a free agent after the 2010 season.
Philadelphia will be giving up prospects to Toronto to acquire Roy Halladay. The Phillies are also expected to receive prospects from Seattle in exchange for Lee. None of the prospects involved in the reported deal have been named.
What are the details of Roy Halladay's new contract?
