Guest The Dogue de Bordeaux is strong, protective and a great family pet. I believe they are easily trainable and not at all a dominant or overly challenging. They are extremely fun loving as well. I own a young female who is very intelligent, gentle, gets along with every dog she meets. She loves children and I enjoy taking her everywhere with me. Of course you never know what personality type you will get in a dog but most of the dogues I have met share the same traits as my own.

Laurice Hooch is a dogue de bordeaux also called french mastiff.

The Dogue de Bordeaux also called the French Mastiff and sometimes called the Bordeaux Bulldog is a relatively short, stocky mastiff. The wrinkled head is massive, heavy and broad. Males can have a head circumference of 27-30 inches (68-75cm). The muzzle is somewhat short (1/3 the total length of the head), wide, powerful and thick, with a pronounced stop. The nose is large with wide-open nostrils, color depends on the mask of the dog. The teeth meet in an underbite. The upper lips hang thickly down over the lower jaw. The thick skin on the neck is loose, forming a noticeable dewlap. The eyes are hazel to dark brown depending on the color of the dog and are set wide apart. The ears are small, hanging down, in proportion to the dog and are darker in color. The tail is thick at the base tapering to a point. The chest is deep, broad reaching lower than the elbows. The legs are muscular. The coat is short and soft with loose fitting skin. Coat colors include various shades of fawn to mahogany with a darker red or black mask around and under the nose including the lips and eye rims. There are sometimes white markings on the chest and tips of the toes.

Laurice Hooch's breed: Dogue de Bordeaux.
This breed of dog is also known as the "french mastiff."

They are beautiful dogs, i used to want one really bad. But after researching them, i have found that they are not naturally as fun loving as hooch. They were bred to be guard dogs, and tend to be dominant. I have found that they are not the right dog for me. Although, i know that any dog can be a great dog, it just takes time obedience and socialization. If you are prepared to have a challenging dog, then i'm sure they can be great dogs, but i know i can't handle a dominant dog.

Turner And Hooch: What Kind of Dog is Hooch?

What kind of dog is Hooch from the movie Turner And Hooch?
He looks kinda like a bull mastiff but for some reason i think that i am wrong. Does anyone know the exact breed of the dog?

I have seen almost the same dog, but alot shorter & stubby. I don't like that. I like the taller one. Like Hooch in the movie.
